Born on Sept. 25, 1921 in Mountain Lake Park, he was the son of the late James T. Gower I and Malva Jane (Bowser)(Gower) Cardiff. He was a life-long farmer, operating a dairy and beef cattle business and was a heavy equipment operator. Read More	James T. Gower (Oakland) OAKLAND - James T. Gower, 85, of Broadford Rd., Oakland, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born on Sept. 25, 1921 in Mountain Lake Park, he was the son of the late James T. Gower I and Malva Jane (Bowser)(Gower) Cardiff. He was a life-long farmer, operating a dairy and beef cattle business and was a heavy equipment operator. He loved making and giving original wood furniture for his family and church and also made other small wooden pieces as gifts for friends. He attended Loch Lynn Church of God and was a graduate of the Oakland High School, Class of 1940. He will be missed by his wife of 65 years, I. Virginia (Harvey) Gower; two daughters, Patsy W. Byrd and husband, Charles, of Manassas, Va., and Sharon G. Decker and husband, Lloyd, of Oakland; one son, James T. Gower III and wife, Sharon Lynn, of Woodbridge, Va.; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the Loch Lynn Church of God on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ivan Ackerman and the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery, Oakland. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Loch Lynn Church of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 2027, Mountain Lake Park, MD 21550.
