Married Catherine McGowen on September 27, 1898 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ulysses, Nebr. ````````````` Ulysses Dispatch (Ulysses, Nebr.), September 14, 1939, p. 1, col. 7 James Timoney Mr. James Timoney, an old and highly respected resident of near Ulysses, passed away at his home on Thursday evening, Sept. 7th, at the age of 76 years. He leaves to mourn his going, his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Schmitt, three sons, Thomas, Leo and George, all of near Ulysses. Also a brother, Laurence Timoney, of Kankakee, Ill., and one sister, of Illinois. There are seven grandchildren and other relatives and hosts of friends who deeply regret his passing and who unite in tendering condolence to the bereaved loved ones. One small son preceded him to the Great Beyond. Deceased has been in very poor health during the past three years and his death was not unexpected. He was kindly cared for by his loved ones who ministered to his every want and he enjoyed the visits from his friends who found in him an inspiration for courage and strength to combat the trials of life. Mr. Timoney was born in Bloomington, Ill., but Nebraska had been his home for many years. Strictly honest in all of his dealings, it had often been said of him that his word was as good as gold. A devoted husband, kind father and staunch friend, has been called to his reward. A practical Catholic, he was always present at mass when health permitted. His funeral services were held at the Catholic church on Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock and were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Father Downey, who celebrated a requiem high mass for the repose of his soul. The seating capacity of church and gallery was taxed. Father Downey gave an excellent sermon which will be treasured by his hearers. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery near town. The pallbearers were Laurence Timoney, John Moore, John McGowan, Laurence McGowan, Robert McGowan and George Moore. "Eternal Rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may Light Perpetual Shine upon him." - E.
