He was retired from the Charles E. Smith Company. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marie Kreps, Thurmont, and Mrs. Martha Ann Mummert, New Oxford, Pa.; four sons, James V., Thomas and Lawrence C. Sr., all of Thurmont; and John F. Kolb, Marlowe, WV; sister, Mrs. Josephine Boone, Johnsville, Md.; 24 grandchildren; two great-granchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Emmitsburg.
