He was a member of Firth Presbyterian Church for 50 years, 10 years as a deacon, 25 years as an elder and 10 years as a Sunday School superintendent. A Lincoln resident since 1944, he attended St. Paul Methodist Church. An agent for the Home Insurance Co., he held the 50-year service medal award.
