Description	:	James "Wayne" Fretueg, 98, of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Lutheran Homes of Muscatine. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Dr. Rev. Robert Pickerell will officiate the services. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. James Wayne Fretueg was born on May 12, 1910 in Brown County, Illinois, the son of James Delmur and Sadie (Armel) Fretueg. James Wayne Fretueg was born on May 12, 1910 in Brown County, Illinois, the son of James Delmur and Sadie (Armel) Fretueg. On December 22, 1955 he was united in marriage to Bethal M. Sloan in Muscatine. Wayne had worked as an inspector for the City of Muscatine. Wayne also farmed and owned and operated River City Paving and Construction. He built the first concrete block hog confinement which was written up in the Farm Journal Magazine. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, specially poker, and spending time with his family. Wayne will be dearly missed by his daughter, Phyllis Hoggatt of Muscatine; 2 grandchildren, Laura Miller and her husband, Lee of rural Muscatine and Holly Hoggatt of Davenport; 1 great grandchildren, Michael Elliott of San Francisco, CA; 2 step-great granddaughters, Lynsey and Brittany Miller; his sister-in-law, Mary Koester; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 1 son, Larry McEvoy; 2 brothers, Lloyd and Samuel; 2 sisters, Ardith Kobernus and Lee Jakale; and 1 son-in-law, Jerry Hoggatt.
