James Wesley Rex was born on November 8, 1943, on the home place in Bonaparte, Iowa to Leonard W and Anna Elizabeth Wenke Rex. He attended school in Bonaparte graduating with the class of 1960. James was raised on the family dairy farm where he learned the value of hard work at an early age. Read More	James Wesley Rex, 78, of Bonaparte, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at his home. James Wesley Rex was born on November 8, 1943, on the home place in Bonaparte, Iowa to Leonard W and Anna Elizabeth Wenke Rex. He attended school in Bonaparte graduating with the class of 1960. James was raised on the family dairy farm where he learned the value of hard work at an early age. Starting in high school he worked at different dairy farms as an artificial inseminator for their dairy cows. He also worked at Steeples Sale Barn in Bonaparte where he received an award for driving over 1 million miles hauling livestock on a straight truck without an accident. Jim was a talented welder and repairman. He began working at Cory's Machine and Tool as well as helping them on the farm. During this time, he entered the Army Reserve where he served for eight years stationed out of Ft. Madison, Iowa. James was known for his skill at welding and worked on many projects at Riverside Plastics as well as working on farm equipment and dozers and helping Dwayne Hornbaker. He always enjoyed working with his brother on the farm with livestock and hay. Jim's hobby was working and there was always work to be done. He cared deeply for his family, especially his partner for over 35 years, Dixie. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Rex and a sister-in-law, Sue Rex. Left to honor his memory is his life-long companion, Dixie Wenke of Bonaparte, Iowa; two brothers, John (Carolyn) Rex of Fulton, Missouri and Jay Rex of Bonaparte, Iowa, as well as many extended family and friends.
