Read More	Brother to Ruth (White) Brunskill 1836-1918 8-19-1926 Hawarden Independent James White, for more than forty years a resident of this community, died at his home in this city last Friday afternoon, August 13, 1926, following a lingering illness. He had been in failing health for a long time and for several months past had been confined to his home. It was plainly evident that he was fast approaching the end of the way so the children were notified and most of them reached his bedside in time to have a farewell visit with him before he took his departure. The end came quietly Friday morning. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon with Rev. J. W. LaGrone, the pastor in charge. The body was buried in the family lot in Grace Hill cemetery. James White, son of John and Mary White, was born at White Oak Springs, Wis., Dec. 4, 1851, and departed this life at his home in Hawarden Aug. 13, 1926, having attained the age of 74 years, 8 months and 9 days. He lived in Wisconsin and Illinois until March, 1886, when he moved to Hawarden and his home has ever since been in this community. On July 30, 1878, he was united in marriage with Miss Alice E. Underwood and eight children were born to this union, all of whom are still living except one daughter, Maggie Cordelia, who preceded her father to the Great Beyond. The surviving children are William E. White of Hawarden, Mrs. E. A. Squier of Hawarden, Mrs. E. C. Clark of Hecla, S. D., Mrs. T. H. Sullivan and Mrs. T. Cole, both of Great Falls, Mont., Robert White of Hawarden and Mr. Ben L. Well of Torton, S. D., thirty-one grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ann Parkin of Apple River, IL., one brother, Thomas White of Ireton, and many other relatives. Mr. White farmed during the greater portion of his long residence in this community, although for a number of years he was engaged in the dray and transfer business. He merited the good will and esteem of a wide circle of friends acquired through his long years of honorable and upright life in this community. He was a good neighbor, a loyal friend and a kind and indulgent husband and father, and the members of his family have the sincere sympathy of all in their bereavement.
