Loughery died last Friday afternoon at his home in Coon Rapids from the result of a stroke of paralysis though he was also afflicted with Bright's disease and dropsy. He and his family came to Coon Rapids in 1891 and continue to make their home here ever since. Loughery died last Friday afternoon at his home in Coon Rapids from the result of a stroke of paralysis though he was also afflicted with Bright's disease and dropsy. He and his family came to Coon Rapids in 1891 and continue to make their home here ever since. Of late years, on account of his affliction, he was unable to do any labor, and so was a daily figure on our streets, enjoying his friends. He was in the Iowan by birth, being born in Clinton County in 1843. He was the father of six children, Wm. E., Clyde, Perry, and Mrs. Nettie Bauer and Mrs. Libbie Shawd, and Mary, deceased. Mr. Lowry died from the effects of the third stroke of paralysis, being stricken but a few days before his demise. He maintained his mentality up to near the last and all the time, so no one of them possibility of recovery, remained quite cheerful. He was a member of the M. E. Church and the funeral Sunday, conducted by Rev. Hicks, was largely attended. The following obituary is furnished us: James William Loughery was born October 25, 1843, at Big Rock, Clinton County, Iowa, and died at his home in Coon Rapids, Iowa, April 1, 1921, aged 77 years, 5 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Helen Barber on March 24, 1870, in Marion, Linn County, Iowa and to this union six children were born: Wm. E. Loughery of Payette, Idaho, Nettie L. Bauer of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Perry G. Loughery of Coon Rapids, Libbie M. Shawd of Letcher, South Dakota, Clyde A. Loughery of Boise, Idaho, and Mary A. Loughery who died March 5, 1895. He united with the Christian church in 1905 and later under Bro. Gibson's pastorage transferred his membership to the Methodist Church, and remaining a faithful member until death. He leaves to mourn his loss, outside his own immediate family two nieces and one nephew and nine grandchildren, besides a large circle of friends.
