'''''''''''''' The Schuyler Sun (Schuyler, Nebr.), May 8, 1884, p. 5, col. 3 John Wahl of Skull Creek, Butler county, recently became entangled in a sulky plow while the team ran away, being dragged quite a distance, and was so badly injured as to require his leg amputated. On the 26th ult. he died. ''''''''' The Nebraska Signal (Fairmont, Nebr.), May 15, 1884, p. 4, col. 1 From the David City Tribune we learn that John Wahl, of Skull Creek precinct, Butler County, came to a horrible death last week. We quote from the Tribune: The cause of the accident, as was told us by Dr. Murphy, who amputated the injured limb, was as follows: The neck yoke, by some cause became detached from the tongue, which dropped to the ground, at which the team became frightened and started to run, which, together with the tongue dropping down, threw Mr. Wahl forward to the ground and in front of the plow. In some way he became entangled in the plow and frame, and his right leg received a terrible gash, either from the share of the plow or the rolling cutter, besides having portions of his body bruised and scratched, and his legs partly severed. When aid reached him it took over a half hour to extricate him from the plow, it having to be partly taken apart in order to get him out. LATER. – Mr. Wahl continued suffering until Saturday morning at 5 o’clock, when death came to his relief.
