Jane married Robert Donaldson Shearer, son of Valentine and Magdalena (Sharer) Shearer 30 Oct 1872. They lived in and around Ames. Robert died in 1903, Jane lived until 1934, dying at the home of her daughter Ada A.(Shearer) Peterson. Robert and Jane are buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Palestine Township, Story County, Iowa. Jane and Robert had ten children viz: (unknown-died young), Mary Melvina (1875–1892), Walter E. (1876- ), Ada A.(1877– ), Cyrenius M. (Apr 1880- ), Alta L.(1882– ), Willard L. (Oct 1885– ), Floyd H. (May 1888– ), Mary I. (1892– ), Flossi V. (1893– ). HER OBITUARY: [Newspaper unknown] MRS. JANE SHEARER DIES SUN. AFTERNOON; Mrs. Jane Shearer, 81, native of Story county and resident here for most of her life, died Sunday about 5 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada Peterson, 232 Sherman avenue. She had been ill for some time, and seriously for the past two and a half weeks. Her death was due to stomach trouble. Funeral arrangements had not been completed Monday. Mrs. Shearer was born in Story county on a farm near Ames, March 12, 1853, and except for a few years during her early life, has always resided in the county. She has lived in the county for 69 years continuously. Her husband, Robert Shearer, a farmer, died in 1903. She leaves two sons, Cyrenus and Willard, both residing on farms near Ames; three daughters, Mrs. Ada Peterson and Mrs. Alta Hennick of Ames; Mrs. Florence Jarnagin of Kearney, Neb., and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Mary Vogt of Maxwell. Children: Mary Malvina Shearer 1875 – 1892 Ada A Shearer 1877 – Alta L. Shearer 1882 – 1935 Willard L Shearer 1886 – Floyd Harrison Shearer 1888 – 1914 Florence V. "Flossie" Shearer 1893 – 1983
