Mrs. Leas was born in Harrison-co. Her husband died about 15 years ago. She was universally respected and had lived an exemplary Christian life, having been a member of the West Bedford M. E. church for many years. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock in Tunnel Hill in charge of Rev. Harvey of West Bedford. Interment will be made at Union church. Source: Coshocton Daily Age - 6 August 1910 ***************** TUNNEL HILL LADY IS LAID TO REST TUNNEL HILL, Aug 8 - Mrs. Jane Birney Leas was born in Harrison county, July 20, 1826. She was united in marriage with George Leas January 9, 1847. To them were born three sons and one daughter. Only one son, Mr. Finly Leas of Tunnel Hill is living. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. Ray and Harry Leas are in Idaho, Bert Leas is in Washington. There are three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leas united with the M. E. church in 1840 at the age of 14. They moved to Coshocton county 40 years ago to the home where she died August 5 at the age of 84 years and 16 days. She leaves many friends to mourn her death. The funeral was conducted Sunday at Union church, August 7, by Rev. Harvey. The singing by the West Bedford choir was very beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Meitzler and daughter Susie of Lafayette spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Finly Leas and attended the funeral of their grandma, Mrs. Jane Birney Leas. John Law, Olive Birney and daughter, Mrs. Matron of Harrison-co. attended the funeral of Mrs. Leas at Union Sunday. Harley Price met some of the people who came for the funeral at Trinway and brought them up Saturday evening in his auto. The pall bearers were: Wm. McCurdy, Lincoln Wolford, Harley Price, Ben Dickerson, Clyde Sproal and A. M. Smith Source: Coshocton Daily Age - 9 August 1910
