She is survived by her four children, Helene Hunger (Jack) of Rocky River, Ohio, Kaye Serp (Bill) of Western Springs, Illinois, Nancy Delavie (Dan) of St. Mary's, Georgia, and Gordon Kaiser (Laura) of Hilton Head, South Carolina, 10 grandchildren, John, Jane, Nancy, Fred, Pamela, Jeanine, Todd, Sara, Anne, and Eleanor, 15 great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jess, John Robert, Anthony, Trevor, Daniel, Katharine (Kate), Andrew (A.J.), Emily, Jack, Allison, Allison, Jessica, Macie and Brooke and one great-great-grandchild, Camden. One grandchild, Neil, predeceased her. Jane was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on December 29, 1912, daughter of Elsie Louise Stauffer and Hugh Hammond Macleod. After graduating from high school and following the death of her father she moved to Kansas City Missouri with her family. There she worked as a nursery school teacher and later as a secretary. While working at Greyhound Bus Lines she met and married Gordon Stanfield Kaiser (originally from Port Bickerton, Nova Scotia Canada) on August 23, 1933. They were married for over 50 years until Gordon's death in November, 1983. Shortly after their marriage, Gordon and Jane moved to Fort Worth Texas where they lived until 1944 and where three of their children were born (Helene, Kaye and Nancy). From 1944 until 1954 they lived in Lakewood, Ohio where their youngest child, Gordon, was born. Between 1954 and 1961 they lived in Chicago, Illinois, Jacksonville, Florida, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Rochester, New York. In 1961 they returned to the Cleveland area. Gordon died in 1983 and Jane continued to live in the Cleveland area (in Berea, Cleveland Heights and Olmstead Township) until her death. She had a handful of things that were important to her throughout her life. She valued those dearly and held them close: First and foremost, family. She left a large family behind her and she loved and valued them all. Her love and guidance will be greatly missed by each of them. She was a strong woman throughout her life and was a great comfort and support to all in her family and a wonderful role model for the women in her family especially. She had strong and clear views on almost all subjects, and never hesitated to share those with the family, most especially her views on how each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren could be better directing their lives. However, having expressed her views, she never resented the fact that they were not always followed. She was active, physically, mentally and emotionally all of her life. She loved being outdoors, and in the air, was an avid gardener for over 90 years, and an enthusiastic golfer. Notably, obtaining coveted hole-in-one in her 80's. Her spiritual life was important to her. She was a devout Christian and an active member of the Episcopal Church for all of her adult life. She loved literature, and reading, music, art, sewing, quilting and travel and was an avid bridge player. Jane loved being a Macleod and spent time understanding her Scottish roots. She also loved birds and had a vast collection of Cardinals, her favorite. Her favorite color was purple which was not hard to detect. She kept up with all of those things for as long as she was able. She had many friends in each of the many places she lived (all told, she made homes in eleven different cities), and until the very end of her life she was able to keep in touch with many of them, some of whom had been friends for 60 or more years. She brought warmth, humor, character, insight and integrity to each of these interests and activities, and to the lives of all of those she touched but most especially to her family and friends. She will be missed by them all but we are sure she will continue to have advice and counsel for us when we need it.
