Description	:	Jane Lechner, age 83, of Guttenberg, IA, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital on Monday, July 3, 2017. She was born on December 28, 1933 on her family’s farm in Lovell Township, Jones County, the daughter of Carl and Margaret Mardorf. A couple months later on July 10,... Read More	Jane Lechner, age 83, of Guttenberg, IA, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital on Monday, July 3, 2017. She was born on December 28, 1933 on her family’s farm in Lovell Township, Jones County, the daughter of Carl and Margaret Mardorf. Jane grew up in the Monticello area and graduated from the Monticello High School in 1951. She then attended UNI and received her bachelor’s degree in home economics and mathematics in 1955. A couple months later on July 10, 1955, Jane was united in marriage with the Rev. Ludolph Lechner at St. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Monticello. Jane and Pastor traveled the country with their children and made many trips to Canada to fish. Jane did some substitute teaching throughout the years and was also a distributor of Shaklee products. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing the piano and encouraged these talents in her children. She was very active in directing the children’s choir at St. Johns in Mineola. Most recently, Jane enjoyed conducting a weekly bible study at the Guttenberg Care Center, where she most recently resided. Jane is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ken C.) Dettbarn of Elkader; two grandsons, Sean (Lana) Dettbarn of Elkader & Nicholas (Alex) Dettbarn of Des Moines and two great grandsons, Gavin & Nolan Dettbarn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rev. Ludolph Lechner; step-father; brother, Dale Mardorf; step-sister, Rose Kumpf and her son David Lechner.
