Parmer, 92, of Wyoming, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at her home in rural Wyoming, Iowa. The Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of the arrangements. Jane Marie Winey was born on April 5, 1919 on a farm northwest of Charlotte, Iowa, to Fred and Luella (Walter) Winey. She was a 1936 graduate of Charlotte High School and then attended the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls transferring to Mount St. Claire in Clinton where she earned her teaching certificate. She married Max L. Parmer on June 20, 1943 in Charlotte, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2002. Jane first worked for the U.S. Government in Washington D.C. as a key punch operator from 1939 to 1941. She then returned to Iowa and worked for Curtis Lumber Company as a key punch operator in Clinton from 1941 to 1943. After her marriage to Max, she became a homemaker and they farmed together, first northwest of Maquoketa, and then northeast of Wyoming from 1954 until present. Jane was a longtime active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow. She had also been a member of the Home Neighbors Club. Jane loved caring for her large yard and garden until late fall of 2011. She enjoyed playing cards, especially 500, reading books, playing her piano, writing letters and working for her church. Jane is survived by a son, Marvin (Carol) Parmer of Wyoming, IA; 2 grandchildren, Penny (Mike) Haspil of Langley, AFB, VA, and Tim Parmer of St. Paul, MN; 1 great-grandson, Max; and a brother-in-law, Wallace Parmer of Indianola, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max, a daughter, Donna Kay in November of 1952, and 3 brothers, Art, Wayne and Arnold. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County, Calvary Baptist Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
