She was the mother of Mr. Mervin Skippen, of Drumheller, who just over one year ago lost his father by death. The late Mrs. Skippen was born at Port Hope, Ontario, and for thirty years resided on Manitoulin Island, where she was married towards the latter part of 1879. In 1909 the late Mrs. Skippen, with her husband and their family, moved west and settled in the Delia district, where their house formed the first post-office, as well as serving as the first church in the district. There are eight daughters and three sons surviving the late Mrs. Skippen. The funeral was held on Sunday, February 20, with a service at the Delia United Church, officiated at by the Rev. John Sorochan. Interment was made in the Delia cemetery.
