Read More	From The Central City Republican, Thursday, October 27, 1921, page 10, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. Jane Williamson Answers Last Call - Many of the people of Central City and especially those who have lived here so long that they have come to be regarded as the old settlers of the community, were deeply grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Jane Williamson, which occurred Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. H. Osborn in Omaha. Mrs. Williamson was one of the earliest residents of Central City, coming here with her parents in 1873, and enduring with them all the hardships that confronted those who left comfortable homes in long established localities to assist in the building up from the beginning of a new section of country. She witnessed the growth of Lone Tree from a few scattered homes into the present city of Central City, and played her part uncomplainingly in its development. Jane R. Chapman was born in Tioga County, Pa., June 7th, 1846. In 1872 the parents removed with their family to the vicinity of Bloomfield, Iowa, and the year after that they came to Merrick county, where Mrs. Williamson has made her home ever since. The family was well known over the county, and the village of Chapman took its name from them. Jane Chapman was married a short time after coming to this county to Madison G. Donaldson, a lawyer by profession, who was one of the early judges of the county court. To Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson were born three children, all still living. These are Pertinax S. Donaldson of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lena J. Osborn and Mrs. Margaret Stafford, both of Omaha. Mr. Donaldson died July 3rd, 1880 and Mrs. Donaldson was left alone with her little family almost entirely dependent upon her efforts for a livelihood. She was untiring in her efforts and being possessed of of good judgment in business matters succeeded in gaining a competence that placed her above want in her declining years. She was married again to William Williamson, and to them were born two sons, Walter J. Williamson and Lewis C. Williamson. The former lives at Seattle, Wash., and the latter in Columbus, Neb. Mr. Williamson died a little over a year ago at the home of his son Lewis in Columbus, the remains being brought to Central City for burial. For some time before her death Mrs. Williamson had been in declining health and it became impossible for her to live alone as she had done for many years. Last winter she spent at the home of her son in Columbus, returning to Central City in the spring. A little later she went with her son, Pertinax Donaldson, who was visiting her at the time, to Omaha, where she resided at the home of Mrs. Stafford until about two weeks prior to her death, when she expressed a desire to visit Mr. and Mrs. Osborn for a time. She was suffering from a malady, the nature of which she kept from the knowledge for her children almost to the last. When it became evident that the end was near, the sons living at a distance were summoned and all were at her bedside at the last. Mrs. Williamson united with the Methodist church when a child in Pennsylvania, and had lived as a Christian throughout all the vicissitudes that beset her path thru life. She was a good mother, ever anxious for the welfare of her children, and was just and honorable in all her business transactions. Mr. Osborn arrived in the city Tuesday to make arrangements for the burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock by Rev. H. g. Langley, and interment was made in the family burying lot in the Central City cemetery. The remains were accompanied to this city by all the children of the deceased.
