Schneider In Memoriam -------------------------------------------- Mrs. Jane Schneider, wife of George Schneider, passed away at her home in this city on Wednesday, July 2nd, after an illness of less than twenty four hours. The deceased was born in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, August 31, 1867, and was the third child of Samuel and Hannah Smith. While still in her infancy she was brought by her parents to America and has spent practically all her life in or near Oelwein. She was united in marriage with George Schneider on March 15, 1887. To them nine children were born, L. P. Schneider, Donald, Ray, Cecil, Florence, Ivan, Arthur, Harold and Dorothy, all of whom reside in Oelwein with the exception of Donald whose home is in Elysian, Minn. Besides her husband and children the immediate relatives who mourn Mrs. Schneider's sudden death, are two brothers, Thomas and Richard Smith of this city, and three sisters, Mrs. E. E. Day of Oelwein, Mrs. W. S. Huntington of Georgia and Mrs. F. H. Martin of Grasston, Minn. Mrs. Schneider was pre-eminently a home maker. With deep devotion to her husband and children she gave unstinted and unselfish service to the supreme object of home building. A tireless worker and a whole-hearted wife and mother, she knew no limit to her toil as long as strength was hers, and to the last hours of her life proved her unselfish spirit to those who were nearest her. She was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church and lived in the Faith of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this Faith she has entered into rest. The richest legacy she leaves to bless her family and her friends is the blessed influence of a Christian mother's life. Funeral services were held at Grace Methodist Church on Saturday, July 5, at 10 a.m. Rev. W. C. Cleworth spoke briefly from the text: "We know that if this earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved we have a building of God -- a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Mrs. Grant and Mrs. McBride sang three of Mrs. Schneider's favorite hymns. Interment was made in the Woodlawn cemetery. Jane Smith (31 Aug 1867 - 2 Jul 1919)
