Farmington, June 15.--Elizabeth Jane, daughter of James and Ruth Spurgeon, was born in Roseville, Perry County, Ohio August 28, 1832, and died June 7, 1921, at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months and ten days. Her father died when she was eight days old. At the age of twenty-one she left Ohio with her mother, uncle, brother and sister,and came to Iowa and settled in Farmington. Farmington, June 15.--Elizabeth Jane, daughter of James and Ruth Spurgeon, was born in Roseville, Perry County, Ohio August 28, 1832, and died June 7, 1921, at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months and ten days. Her father died when she was eight days old. At the age of twenty-one she left Ohio with her mother, uncle, brother and sister,and came to Iowa and settled in Farmington. January 3, 1856, she was married in Keosauqua to James White of Zanesville, Ohio. He departed this life July 27, 1899. To this union were born twelve children. Richie A., William, J., Nancy J. and James Calvin died in infancy. Thomas B. died in 1903. The children left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother are: SamuelM., Joseph, George, John C., and Mrs. Cena Bracey of Farmington, Mrs. John Weiher of Ewing, MO., and Mrs. Alva Myers of Bonaparte. She united with the Methodist church a number of years ago and died in that faith. She was a good woman and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted in the home on Friday, June 10, by the Reverand G.H. Smith and assisted by Rev. J.A. Cockrane. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. Fields and Mrs. Nealfie. The floral offerings were beautoful. Interment was made in the Steinmeyer Cemeetery.
