[IA] and finally settling down in Galesburg, IA, where she departed this life Feb 21, 1900. She was the mother of 7 children, besides raising 2 step-daughters;... Jane Mains was born in Westmoreland Co., PA, 10 Dec 1830; was married to Simon McGrew Mains Dec 15, 1850 in Westmoreland Co., where they lived until Mar 1, 1857, then moved to Allegheny Co., PA, where they lived until Oct 28, 1869 when they moved to Monroe, IA; living at Monroe and near Otley [IA] a while then moving to Davis Co. [IA] and finally settling down in Galesburg, IA, where she departed this life Feb 21, 1900. She was the mother of 7 children, besides raising 2 step-daughters; one of them dying about 7 years ago, & the other one Mrs. Jennie Bedsworth of Washington Co., PA, who with her husband was permitted to be at the bedside in her last moments. Her only son died in Davis Co. 13 years ago. Her 6 daughters are: Mrs. William Marshall, Mrs. James Waddle & Mrs. Mary L. Trickett all of Monroe, Mrs. H.L. Jarnagin of Colfax, IA, & Mrs. William Apple of Dallas Center, IA, all being present with her in her last moments. She was converted in Mar 1866, in Allegheny Co & united with the Baptist church of Monongahela City, PA, where she remained a consistant member until her removal to Monroe, where she united with the Baptist church where she remained until moving to Galesburg. There being no Baptist church there she united with the Christian church & remained until called away. She had been a great sufferer for years, but bore it with patience. She had made her home for a year with her daughter, Mrs. Philip Jarnagin, where everything was done for her that loving hands could do. Her aged companion is left to mourn.
