Description	:	Jane Flach, 80, of Iowa City, passed away quietly on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born on January 12, 1934, to Henry and Dorothy (Kottenstette) Watznauer in Fort Madison, Iowa. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Central Catholic High School in Fort Madison. Read More	Jane Flach, 80, of Iowa City, passed away quietly on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born on January 12, 1934, to Henry and Dorothy (Kottenstette) Watznauer in Fort Madison, Iowa. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Central Catholic High School in Fort Madison. Jane married John Flach in February of 1950. They lived in the Fort Madison area where they raised five children and owned and managed Troy Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Over the years she worked at Rumps Young Fashions, the Sheaffer Pen Company, Home Health Care and the Kensington Assisted Living Facility. She moved to Iowa City in 2006 where she loved watching the Hawkeyes and parking cars in her front yard for the home football games. Jane was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid flower gardener and reader as well as a member of the "Free Women" Scrabble Group. She loved to travel, watch sports, cook and play games with her grandchildren. She was involved as a member and officer of the Old Capitol Questers and the University Club. Jane also worked as a volunteer at the University of Iowa Hospital Gift Shop. Those left to cherish her loving memories are her children R. Michael (Jenny) Flach of West Point, IA, Polly Ann (Tom) Lepic of Iowa City, IA, Linda Jane (David) McDaniel of Churchville, VA and Melissa Kay Flach of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Benjamin (Lynn) Flach, Nicholas (Katy) Flach, Annie Flach (Nik) Krishna, Natalie Brotherton (Kameron) Kranz, Savannah Farrens, Ciera Marie Farrens and Davis McDaniel; sisters Geraldine St. Clair; Dorothy Denmead and Annalee (Frank) Reed; five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and close friends, including cousin Bob Prasch who was her friend and "Mr. Fix-it" for the last four years. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Watznauer, sister Ruth Bergman and son, Matthew Henry Flach. There will be a gathering of friends and family in Fort Madison at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Her family will also greet friends on Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Iowa City at the Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Ave. from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm. Jane's ashes will be buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fort Madison at a later private family ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Madison Public Library.
