Description	:	Mrs. Janet Zimmerman, 84, of Hettinger, ND passed away on March 24, 2009 at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger. Funeral services will be TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officiate and burial will be at a later date at the Hettinger Cemetery. Visitations will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday afternoon. Janet Hicks was born on June 2nd, 1924 in Castle Butte Township, Perkins County, South Dakota to James and Emma (Holter) Hicks and raised on the family farm in Perkins County. Janet graduated from Hettinger High School in 1942 Janet was united in marriage to Edwin "Eddie" Zimmerman on March 21st, 1946. To this union, seven children were born. Eddie and Janet lived and worked on a farm north of Hettinger. Janet's employment history included JC Penny, Hettinger Bowling Alley, and her last job before retirement at age 72 was with the Hettinger Public School. Janet enjoyed watching all the school children grow up over the years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and refurnishing furniture. She also enjoyed music and dancing and she especially enjoyed listening to Eddie play the piano and the accordion. Grateful for having shared Janet's life are her children Jim and wife Diana Zimmerman, Bismarck; Wayne Zimmerman, Dunseith; Craig and wife Patty Zimmerman, Bismarck; Doug and wife Lana Zimmerman, Bismarck; Vicki Zimmerman, Carson and special friend Steve Tomac; Sherri and husband Allan Engraf, El Dorado, KS; and Patti and husband Les Viken, Fosston, MN; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her parents James and Emma Hicks, her husband Eddie Zimmerman, one sister Anita Neuman and two grandchildren, Katie Zimmerman and Jimmy Zimmerman.
