Description	:	Graveside services for Janet L. Saunders, 89, of Creighton were held today, Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Rev. Ken Purscell officiated the 10:30 a.m. service. Janet Lucille Saunders, daughter of Irvin B. and Emma (Jeppesen) Saunders, was born September 18, 1914 at Bazile Mills, Nebraska. Janet's father passed away when she was five years old. Janet helped her mother care for her siblings. She moved to Creighton in 1920 with her family. Ken Purscell officiated the 10:30 a.m. service. Janet Lucille Saunders, daughter of Irvin B. and Emma (Jeppesen) Saunders, was born September 18, 1914 at Bazile Mills, Nebraska. Janet's father passed away when she was five years old. Janet helped her mother care for her siblings. She moved to Creighton in 1920 with her family. She graduated from Creighton High School as valedictorian of her class. She attended Way State College and taught school in Knox and Antelope Counties. Later she attended a business school in Sioux City, IA. She worked for Farm Security Administration in Center until her retirement. She later worked for several local insurance firms. Janet took care of her mother until her death in 1962. She also cared for her grandfather and two aunts in Plainview and was a caregiver for several local families. Janet was a member of the United Church of Christ and was active as a Sunday School teacher and held several offices in the church and Ladies Fellowship. She also served as secretary-treasurer of the Bazile Mills Cemetery Association for many years. Janet enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad. She passed away January 14, 2004 at the Creighton Care Centre at the age of 889. She is survived by a brother, Irvin, of Whittier, CA and two nieces and a nephew.
