The church was filled to overflowing and then less than half the people present were able to gain entrance. The service was held from the home at 10:30 and at the church at 11:00 and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. F. Hawk, who was assisted by Rev. Phillips of the M. E. church. The text for the discourse was 2 Tim. 1:12. The body was interred in the Lone Tree cemetery. Janet Allison Crawford was born in Dunbarton, Province Ontario, Canada, on July 8, 1836, and died at her recent home just a short distance southeast of Lone Tree on last Friday morning, May 28, 1909. Aged 72 years, 10 months and 20 days. On January 8, 1807, she was united in holy matrimony to Andrew Crawford. To this union were born five children — William, Mrs. Jessie Klotz, Thomas, Walter, and Janie who died in infancy. Mrs. Crawford, immediately after her marriage, came with her husband to Iowa and settled on the farm near Lone Tree where she lived until the angel of death called her to her home on high. In infancy she was consecrated to the Lord by the sacred rite of baptism. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Presbyterian church when a young lady. After her removal to Iowa she identified herself with the Reformed church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. She found Jesus her source of hope and her constant friend and comforter during her days of suffering. In the death of Mrs. Crawford, the family loses a kind wife and a loving mother; the church, a faithful attendant and liberal supporter; the community, a generous spirited, sympathetic and helpful neighbor. Her life and ideals have during these years been instilled into many hearts. There remain to mourn her death, her husband, one daughter, three sons and six grandchildren, besides other relatives and a wide circle of friends. The sorrowing ones have the deepest sympathy of the church and the entire community.
