Description	:	Janet Russell Lang, daughter of John and Margaret Lang, was born in Scott county, near Davenport, Iowa, August 9, 1855. She grew to womanhood in Scott county and on March 11, 1885 was united in marriage with William Hall. They came to Brooklyn and settled in Madison township on what is known as the home place. Here they made their home until 1922, when they moved to Brooklyn. She was of a family of ten children, seven of whom, Will, Guy, Mrs. Maggie Grieve, Mrs. Agnes Brownlie, Mrs. John Howie, Annie, and Alice in early youth, preceded her in death.... Here they made their home until 1922, when they moved to Brooklyn. She was of a family of ten children, seven of whom, Will, Guy, Mrs. Maggie Grieve, Mrs. Agnes Brownlie, Mrs. John Howie, Annie, and Alice in early youth, preceded her in death. In her girlhood days she united with the Christian church of Long Grove, and upon the organization of the Madison Christian church, she became one of the charter members. Her interests were most deeply centered in her husband and children and home. To these she gave her undying devotion. Her church was her only outside interest and to it she was always loyal in attendance and support. Truly her husband and children rise up and praise her. Suffering from a stroke on Wednesday evening, she did not rally and passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, April 30, 1931. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church in Brooklyn, attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Rev. J.T. Nichols of Des Moines assisted by Rev. E.W.F. Holler, pastor of the Presbyterian church and Rev. Orville Morgan, pastor of the Christian church of Albia, conducted the services. The pallbearers were Brownlie Graham, Robert A. Moore, Frank Kenyon, Andrew Shadel, Chas. A. Beckham and Ben Torrance. Lang of Grinnell, and one sister, Mrs. R.J. Breckenridge of Brooklyn to mourn her loss.
