Tanke was born on February 24, 1925 in Cherokee Co, IA, the daughter of Ernest and Beulah (Kading) Anderson. Janice received her education in Kingsley, IA and was a graduate of the Kingsley High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Earl B. Tanke on January 28, 1947 in Kingsley, IA. Janice was employed at SDSU as a secretary in the engineering dept for over 30 years. Earl died on October 5, 1981 in Brookings. She is survived by one son Wayne Tanke (Eileen) of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren , Michelle Duin (Martin) of Sioux Falls, SD and Sara Wald (Gregory) of Fargo, ND and three great grandchildren Abigail Duin, Tyler Duin and Kathryn Wald. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister Arvetta Kane. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be directed to the South Dakota MS Society or the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD.
