Description	:	Janice I. (Sandman) Allen was born in Stratton, Neb., on May 18, 1951, to Jack and Verna (Brown) Sandman. She was the third child born to Jack and Verna, missing being the second by only a few minutes. Janice attended school in Wauneta and graduated from high school there in 1969. (Sandman) Allen was born in Stratton, Neb., on May 18, 1951, to Jack and Verna (Brown) Sandman. She was the third child born to Jack and Verna, missing being the second by only a few minutes. Janice attended school in Wauneta and graduated from high school there in 1969. During her high school years she was active in the PEP band, played volleyball and softball, and enjoyed spending time with her twin sister and good friends. After high school Janice attended North Platte Community College, graduating from there in 1970 with a degree in Dental Assisting. Janice moved to Imperial after college where she met Doug Allen. They were married April 7, 1972, and had one daughter, Jennifer, and twin sons, Aric and Chad. Janice was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and was otherwise actively employed in the Imperial community. In September of 2004, Janice and Doug moved to North Platte where they lived until the time of her death. She was employed at North Platte Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. Janice loved working with the public and touched many lives with her joyful spirit. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, reading, and most of all spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the joys of her life. Janice's greatest passion, however, was her relationship with Jesus Christ. She became a Christian on July 25, 1976, and from thereon lived her life as a testimony to Christ. Much of her testimony was shared through her God-given talent of singing. She was involved in various Bible studies, missions projects and church activities. She truly let the light of Jesus shine through her. Janice passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center at North Platte. She was 57 years of age. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Sandman. She is survived by husband Doug Allen of North Platte; daughter Jennifer and husband Jim Harris; sons Aric Allen and wife Tiffany and Chad Allen, all of Imperial; grandsons: Dustin Harris of Omaha, Drew Harris of Wauneta and Tanner Harris of Imperial; granddaughters: Jamie and husband Spencer Shifflet of Paxton; Janae Harris of Kearney, Sarah Allen, Jade Harris, Sydnie Stephens and Sofie Allen, all of Imperial; two great grandsons: Evan Humphrey of Kearney and Konner Shifflet of Paxton; mother Verna Sandman of Wauneta; brothers: Bill Sandman and wife Deb of Kearney and Greg Sandman and wife Sandy of Curtis; sisters: Jackie and husband Terry Dewey of Grand Island and Vicki and husband Gary Grimes of Enders; mother-in-law Phyllis Langin of Imperial; sister-in-law Deb and husband Bob Swenson of Omaha; brother-in-law Donn Allen and wife Karen of Wauneta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday, July 29, at the Christian Faith Outreach Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor J. R. Kline and Rev. Glen Kline officiating. Music included favorite recorded selections. Casketbearers were B. J. Sandman, J. D. Sandman, Jacob Sandman, James Roberts, Daniel Sandman, Seth Dewey and Harley Allen. Honorary casketbearers were Dustin Harris, Drew Harris, Tanner Harris, Sarah Allen, Sydnie Stephens, Sofie Allen, Jamie Shifflet, Janae Harris and Jade Harris. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Neb. Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
