Description	:	daughter of Folkert and Augusta (Maifeld) Schoneman Janice Marilyn Stahl, age 86, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Folkert and Augusta (Maifeld) Schoneman on a farm 4 miles north of Aplington. She attended Aplington Community School graduating in 1946. She continued her education at Iowa State Teachers College for a term and taught rural school for two years. On August 20, 1948, Janice was united in marriage with Calvin Stahl of Holland, Iowa at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington. They established their home and farmed north of Holland and later moved two miles west. In 1965 they moved to a farm near Aplington and continued to farm until 1982. While living on the farm Janice helped alongside Calvin driving the tractor for the field work, milking, raising chickens and a large garden every year. Janice owned and operated J & S Mercantile Store in Aplington and had a painting and wallpaper business for 25 plus years. Janice was a member of Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was active in Circle, APW, quilting, and also had directed the church Jr. Choir and Jr. Youth. She enjoyed baking bread, pies and canning. Janice took great pride in making quilts that she gave to each and every one of her grandchildren. She made many wedding and birthday cakes too. They built a home on Clear Lake where many vacations and good times were spent with their family and friends. Janice died Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Unity Point – Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Beth Marilyn in 1952; one son, Kent Stahl in 2010; one son-in-law, Michael Ashby; and one brother, Ronald Schoneman. Janice is survived by her husband of 66 years, Calvin Stahl of Aplington; four children, Hal (Marty) Stahl of Aplington, Janeen (Chad) Stohr of Aplington, Sharla (Butch) Kampman of Harvey, Iowa, and Keith (Marcia) Stahl of Stanwood, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Ellen Stahl of Aplington; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark (Sherry) Schoneman of Clear Lake and Vernon (Judy) Schoneman of Clear Lake; two sisters, Javonne (Ray) Buseman of Pella, Iowa, and Naomi (Leland) Pederson of Clear Lake and one sister-in-law, Barbara Schoneman of Cedar Falls. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Aplington, with burial in the Colfax Presbyterian Church Cemetery rural Holland. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Aplington, (319)346-1534, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
