Janis was born August 25, 1936 in Salem, South Dakota to John and Anna (Hoenscheid) Streff. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Salem in 1954. Dickey, 80 years, of Fremont, Nebraska died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. Janis was born August 25, 1936 in Salem, South Dakota to John and Anna (Hoenscheid) Streff. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Salem in 1954. Janis married Carl Dickey on July 15, 1961 in Salem. She lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from 1956 to 1973, they moved to Schuyler, Nebraska and lived there until 2003, where she owned and operated J-Dee’s Antiques for ten years. She also had worked as a registration clerk at the hospital in Schuyler. They moved to Fremont in 2003. She was a current member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont and had been a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. She was an avid reader, a Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins baseball fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and dogs. She is a survived by her husband, Carl of Fremont; sons, Jeff and wife, Ayla Dickey of Phoenix, Arizona, Scott and wife, Jennifer Dickey of Omaha, Nebraska and Patrick Dickey of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter, Cynthia and husband, Keith Stricker of Decatur, Illinois; brother, Eldyn and wife, Monica Streff of Olathe, Kansas; sister, Yvonne Streff of Leavenworth, Kansas; and grandchildren, Lucas, Brittany, Bryan, Austin and Allison. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Harold and Alice Dickey; and brother-in-law, Art Dickey. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 3, 2016 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Father Patrick McCaslin will officiate. Closed casket visitation will be Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a rosary at 7 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and will continue one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorials may be directed to Fremont Health Hospice or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem South Dakota." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N. Somers Avenue, Fremont, NE 68025.
