Read More	Janis Frank, born Janis Joan Hendrickson on May 1, 1927, passed away from natural causes on March 10, 2016, while holding the hand of her eldest daughter, Sally. Janis grew up in Turner, with her mother, father, and younger brother Jack. Growing up, she loved riding horses up to the Canadian border, attending dances, playing piano, and acting in local theater productions. Janis graduated early from high-school, having excelled at her studies, and she immediately began teaching school to pay her way through college at the University of Montana. While at the university, Janis fell in love with and subsequently married Charles L. Frank of Laurel. The pair moved to Billings, built a house on Arvin Road, and took jobs in the Billings Public School system, she as an elementary school teacher and he as a principal and superintendent. They had three children, Sally, Timothy, and Nancy. Following Chuck’s death in 1986, Janis retired and spent as many of her days as possible caring for, and enjoying, their cabin outside of Red Lodge. She liked nothing better than time spent “at Rock Creek,” having breakfast outside on the porch, reading a new library book, listening to jazz or classical music on the radio, and mowing her vast yard until it reached a state of perfection. Several times she was surprised by a bear who had wandered down from the mountains and smelled something delicious cooking in her oven. Only once did the bear get inside, and thankfully Janis was out reading on her deck while he made his way through her food stores. When she was back in Billings, she enjoyed attending Billings Symphony concerts, tending to her rose gardens, playing cards with her friends, and planning her next great escape to Rock Creek. Janis believed in fresh air and keeping candy out in a bowl, tight French braids and bird-baths in the back yard. She adored chubby babies, her blue Jeep, tea parties, coffee from McDonalds, Arby’s fry sauce, and raspberries straight from the bush. She loved her family with all of her heart and wanted, more than anything, for them to be healthy, happy, and engaged in meaningful work. For all of these reasons and more, she will be greatly missed. Janis is preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Frank; her mother Hamilton Saxton Hendrickson; father Thomas Hendrickson; brother Eugene Hendrickson, and brother Jack Hendrickson. She is survived by her children Sally (Larry) Lynam, Timothy (Martha) Frank, and Nancy (Keith) Robertson; her grandchildren Robin (Jakob) Jensen, Rosemary (Adam) Bender, Jana (Aaron) Fox, Charles Frank, Matthew Robertson, Edward Lynam, Kathryn Frank, and David Frank; and her three great-grandchildren Jor Jensen, Madeline Bender, and Dane Jensen (with two more soon-to-arrive).
