Jennie married Fred William Jibben, Sr., on May 23 1887 at Turner County First Presbyterian Church, Davis, SD. The following is from the Lennox Diamond Jubilee Book. Longtime residents of this community, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jibben have been married for 52 years. This pioneer couple has for nearly six decades made their residences here. They were united in marriage May 23, 1887 at the Turner county First Presbyterian church by the late Rev. Ludwig Figge, first pastor of that church. Following their taking their marriage vows, Mr. and Mrs. Jibben moved on the Wiebersiek farm, one mile west of that church—seven miles southwest of Lennox—which place they later bought. The greater part of their lives centered on that farm enterprise as Mr. and Mrs. Jibben remained there for 47 years. In the fall of 1934 they took up their residence in Lennox where they have made their home since. This union was blessed with nine children, two sons passing away in infancy and a daughter answering the final summons at the age of 20 years. Their six children presently living include: C. F., Fred, Jr., Henry, and Jibbo Jibben, all of near Davis; Emma, at home, and Mrs. C. D. Kuper, Mrs. Jibben, nee Jennie Wiebersiek, was born at Veenhusen, Ostfriesland, Germany, April 27, 1868. In the spring of 1869—when she was only a year old—her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris O. Wiebersiek, came to the United States and located near Ackley, la. There they made their home for three years and in 1872 came to Dakota Territory and homesteaded on a farm two miles north of the present town of Davis. Here she grew to womanhood and lived until her marriage. Her father passed away on June 23, 1922, and her mother April 18, 1902. She has two sisters, Mrs. John Alberts, Mrs. Herman Alberts and one sister-in-law Mrs. Minnie Wiebersiek, all of Davis. Mr. Jibben was born at Osteel, Ostfriesland, Germany, December 8, 1862. There he grew to young manhood, and at the age of 19, in the spring of 1882 he came with his parents to America. For four months he was employed near Chicago and then came west to join his parents who had settled on a farm near Davis. He followed the carpenter trade until his marriage. His father died in 1897, and his mother in 1920. Two brothers, William and Jibbo, have also passed away. He has one brother, Emery Jibben of Milbank, and four sisters, namely: Mrs. Fred Schuknecht and Mrs. Ida Arends of Chancellor, Mrs. George Schultz of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Ralph Uphoff of DeSmet. Also two sister- in-laws, Mrs. William Jibben of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Jibbo Jibben of near Davis.
