| Description | : | Jantje was born in Germany to Jacob and Margaretha (Loeschen) Uhlenhopp. Her entire family decided to leave Germany and by April 1889 she arrived in Baltimore aboard the Weser with her husband, Harm Bohlen, and their first born children. Soon they joined the Uhlenhopps who had already settled in Butler County, Iowa. The Bohlens raised at least 10 children to adulthood while farming.
