Saturday in Oakdale, Cal. The body is being brought to the Larkin funeral home of this city for funeral services and burial. Mr. Coates was born here August 15, 1907. He attended Cathedral parochial school and Central high school before going into electrical work. For seven years he was employed at Phillip and Presho, S. D., by the Central West Public Service Co. before going to California. Survivors include the widow, Margaret, and one child, Judy, of Oakdale; four sisters, Miss Florence Coates and Mrs. Mae Hostettler; both of Omaha; Mrs. Lewis Wagner, Le Mars, and Mrs. M. H. Kirchbaum, Sioux City, and two brothers, Ed and Stanley, both of Sioux City. The Sioux City Journal, October 30, 1947 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Funeral services for Jay Lewis Coates, 40, native Sioux Cityan who was killed accidentally by an electric charge while working as an employe of a gas and electric firm at Oakdale, Cal., will be held at 9 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic church.
