Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Jay Owen McCord was born on Monday; November 21, 1921 in Palos Park; Cook County, Illinois to Ira and Margaret McCord. He was the eldest of four children. He married Arlene Elkins on Saturday; May 13, 1944 and they were married for 40 years until Arlene's death in 1984. Jay married Nel on Saturday; June 22, 1985. They resided in Omaha; Douglas County, Nebraska until his death. Jay was a cattle feeder and farmer in the Wisner-Stanton area. After he left the farm he was a feed salesman in the Norfolk, Stanton and Omaha areas until his health problems caused him to retire. Jay was always involved in 4-H with his family and friends. He always attended all the local 4-H shows at the county and state levels. Jay and Arlene worked hard on their farms in Wisner and Stanton while raising their children and being very involved with 4-H livestock projects. Later on they truly enjoyed their 4 grandchildren and their travels to Colorado, as well as many fun filled trips with their fifth-wheel camper. Jay and Nel loved to cruise and travel, which took them to Italy, Spain, Greece, Australia and many Caribbean islands, through the Panama Canal and a cruise to Alaska. They also traveled to Colorado as well as the Pacific Northwest and Florida. When health problems arose they retired to an assisted living facility. Jay will be truly missed by many. He always had a ready laugh and a good word to say about everybody. Jay Owen McCord, 85, passed away in Omaha; Douglas County, Nebraska on Friday; February 23, 2007 from natural causes. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Nel of Omaha, Nebraska, his sister Marilyn Wortman of Aurora, Nebraska, his son, Robert (Mary) and daughter, Kay Farran, both of Colorado Springs; El Paso County, Colorado, grandchildren Lisa Walsh, Heidi Monroe, Corby Farran and Brandon Farran, great grandchildren Sarah, Alex and Kayla Walsh, Caleb and Cassidy Monroe, Kali, Kendall, Kelsey and Khloe Farran and Kristofer Farran, step daughters Linda Weller, Sheryl McCright, Teri Nielsen, and seven step grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Marshall and Connie McCord and his in laws. May they rest in peace. Memorial visitation will be on Friday; March 2, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. till service time at the church with the Rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. Memorial mass will be Friday, March 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner; Cumming County, Nebraska. Burial of the ashes will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Wisner, Nebraska.
