She was born on November 14, 1916, in Montpelier, ID, the youngest of a family of six children born to Emma and Francis Orchard. She moved to Tooele, UT in 1918. She was born on November 14, 1916, in Montpelier, ID, the youngest of a family of six children born to Emma and Francis Orchard. She moved to Tooele, UT in 1918. She married Norbert Frank Dicus from Pateros, WA on February 26, 1945, in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death in 1996. She attended Tooele schools, graduating from Tooele High School in 1935. Jean was involved in a devastating auto accident in 1947 on a Tooele highway. Because of complications following her accident, she was never able to walk again, but successfully carried on life as a homemaker and was never overcome by her disability. She engaged people with her wit and friendly nature. She moved to Pateros, WA in the late 1950's; then Chelan, WA and finally to Wenatchee, WA in 1979. She is survived by two nieces, Ardeth Daly Houde of Rochester, NY and Kay Frances Orchard of Tucson, AZ. Funeral Services will be held for her at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home in Wenatchee on Monday, November 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call a half hour before the Service. Interment will be at the Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, WA. Her father, Francis Orchard, was employed for 24 years as an engineer on the Tooele Valley Railroad during many years of Jean's life. She was always proud of that, and asked that any contributions be made in her memory to the Tooele Valley Railroad Museum Endowment Fund in Tooele, UT.
