Description	:	Jean Eldora Magnuson, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes, Holdrege, Nebraska. Jean was born on July 13, 1917 on the family farm one-half mile southwest of Holdrege, Nebraska the third of four daughters born to Charles J. "Charley" and Hilda (Johnson) Borklund. Jean received her primary education from a rural school southwest of Holdrege, Nebraska and then graduated from Holdrege (NE.) High School, with the class of 1934. Jean was born on July 13, 1917 on the family farm one-half mile southwest of Holdrege, Nebraska the third of four daughters born to Charles J. "Charley" and Hilda (Johnson) Borklund. Jean received her primary education from a rural school southwest of Holdrege, Nebraska and then graduated from Holdrege (NE.) High School, with the class of 1934. She then pursued higher education at Trippes Beauty School in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she received her cosmetology license. She then returned to Holdrege, Nebraska and operated the beauty shop at Ledlie's Brothers Clothing Store. On February 8, 1941 she was united in marriage to Chester O. "Chet" Magnuson in Billings, Montana. Chet was a long-time friend since the third grade. The couple traveled extensively since Chet was a salesman of men's clothing. They later settled in California, where Jean lived during World War II. She was employed by Cannon Enterprises and Genenni Specialties. In 1984, they returned to Holdrege, Nebraska from San Clemente, California. The couple never had any children so they worked, traveled, cruised and enjoyed visiting Nebraska friends in California. On August 18, 1999, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Chet. Since her failing health in 2008 she began to make her home at Christian Homes Care Community and Holdrege Memorial Homes, both in Holdrege, Nebraska. Besides her parents and husband, Chester O. "Chet" Magnuson, she was preceded in death by sisters: Leona Smith and her husband, Paul and Harriet McRoberts and her husband, P.D; brother-in-law, John D. Burgeson; niece, Bonnie Erickson; and nephew, Jerry McRoberts. Jean leaves to mourn her passing: sister, JoAnne Burgeson of Holdrege, Nebraska; nieces, Linda Reiser and her husband, Bill of Holdrege, Nebraska and Patty O'Brien and her husband, John of Shelton, Nebraska; nephews, Steve Burgeson of Holdrege, Nebraska, Charles Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Richard Erickson of Holdrege, Nebraska and a host of friends. Interment was in Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Nebraska.
