She was born Nov. 8, 1940, at Yates Center to Glen and Thelma Coblentz Thompson. She grew up at Yates Center and moved with her family to Iola when she was a sophomore in high school. Read More	Iola Register May 29, 2001, page 8 Former Iola resident Jean L. McClure of Fredonia died Saturday, May 26, at Wesley Medical Center at Wichita at the age of 60. She was born Nov. 8, 1940, at Yates Center to Glen and Thelma Coblentz Thompson. She grew up at Yates Center and moved with her family to Iola when she was a sophomore in high school. She was graduated from Iola High School in 1958. She was a graduate of Iola Junior College. On June 30, 1961, she married Jerry E. McClure at Iola. They traveled with his job until 1965 when they made their home at Fredonia. She worked in the Treasurer's office at the Wilson County Courthouse for 16 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Fredonia, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Iola. She is survived by her husband of the home; a son, Rich and his wife Christina, of San Jacinto, Calif.; a daughter, Laura McCllure, of Cherryvale; her parents, Glen and Thelma Thompson, of Iola; and a grandaughter, Ashley McClure, of Sunland, Calif. A sister, Julia Thompson died in 1965. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia. The Rev. W. Lawrence Grove will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery in Iola. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
