Description	:	Jean M. Fortier passed away peacefully on September 19, 2014 at the Wm. Clough Ext. Center in New London, NH, surrounded by her family after a short period of declining health. Jean was born in Worcester, MA, on October 25, 1929, to Roland and Evelyn Meunier of Southbridge, MA. She grew up in Southbridge, MA, with her mother, father and two younger brothers, Paul and Robert Meunier. Fortier passed away peacefully on September 19, 2014 at the Wm. Clough Ext. Center in New London, NH, surrounded by her family after a short period of declining health. Jean was born in Worcester, MA, on October 25, 1929, to Roland and Evelyn Meunier of Southbridge, MA. She grew up in Southbridge, MA, with her mother, father and two younger brothers, Paul and Robert Meunier. At a New England College mixer, Jean met Paul Fortier of Berlin, NH, a World War II /10th Mountain Division veteran on the GI bill. They were married on April 18, 1953. Jean and Paul began their family in Berlin, NH and in 1963, they made their forever home in Sunapee, NH. Jean was a loving mother to her five children. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and growing a bountiful vegetable garden each year. She spent countless summers at Dewey Beach enjoying the sun, the sand and her children. Jean worked at the Sullivan County Home as lead Dietician and in her later years was a dedicated Title I Reading Specialist. Jean enjoyed her grandchildren and being together with her family. In 1996, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Paul. She is survived by her brother Paul Meunier (Lana), her brother Robert Meunier (Diane), and her five children: Sandra Fortier, John Fortier, Christine Fortier-Ohi, Timothy Fortier, Caroline Fortier Humphrey and her beloved grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Meghan, Aubree, Bridget, Devon, Samuel, John, Jared, Gabriel, Brady and Julian. A graveside burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
