Description	:	Jean M. Schank, 87, of Central City died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Long Term Care in Central City. Jean was born July 28, 1924, in York to Clinton D. and Maude N. (Mathes) Davis. Jean was preceded in death by son, Gary Schank, in 2010. Survivors are: husband, Raymond of Central City; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Julia Schank of Clarks; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Steve Wishart of Aurora; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Schank, 87, of Central City died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Long Term Care in Central City. Jean was born July 28, 1924, in York to Clinton D. and Maude N. (Mathes) Davis. Jean was preceded in death by son, Gary Schank, in 2010. Survivors are: husband, Raymond of Central City; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Julia Schank of Clarks; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Steve Wishart of Aurora; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family lived in York until moving to Central City and Jean graduated from Central City High School in 1942. On May 23, 1942, Jean was united in marriage to Raymond J. Schank. They made their home near Archer, where they farmed. Jean worked at the Merrick County Treasurer's Office for 25 years. After her retirement from the treasurer's office, they continued to live on the farm. In the fall of 2008, they moved to Cottonwood Estates in Central City and in the fall of 2011, they went to live at Long Term Care in Central City. Jean was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was an avid golfer, she collected Hummel figurines, enjoyed reading and traveling. Her greatest enjoyment came from the time she spent with her children and their families. Jean was also preceded in death by: parents, Clinton and Maude Davis; sisters, Alice Davis and Mable Fairchild; and brother, Jack Warren. Graveside services were at the Central City Cemetery, Central City, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on March 15, 2012
