Her mortal life ended on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, when she passed away at her home at Mission Ridge. Read More	Jean Marie Lingenfelter was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Plainview, Neb., the daughter of Newton and Lula Ella (Dunaway) Lingenfelter. Her mortal life ended on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, when she passed away at her home at Mission Ridge. Newton was a farmer and cattle feeder and they lived on a farm east of Plainview until 1936 when they moved to town so that Jean and her two older brothers, Virgil and Raymond, could attend city schools. Jean was a good student and enjoyed playing the trombone in the band and being a cheerleader. Upon graduation from Plainview High School in 1941, she attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Cadet Nursing Program. She joined Alpha Omega Pi, a Social Sorority. She then transferred to the University of Nebraska College of Nursing in Omaha, where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1946. Jean spent part of her senior year at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She then moved to Denver, where she joined the staff of Presbyterian Hospital and it was there that she met her future husband, Paul, who was an intern there. Jean and Paul were married in Plainview on May 14, 1950, at the Congregational Church and returned to Denver, where Paul was a Pediatric Resident at The Children's Hospital. During the Korean Conflict, Paul was a Naval Medical Officer and Jean and Paul lived in La Crosse, Wis., at Great Lakes, Ill., and in Denver, and after the two-year period of service, returned to Children's Hospital in Denver. While there, because they planned to move to Montana to practice Pediatrics, Jean worked as a nurse at the Premature Center at Colorado General Hospital. They moved to Billings in December 1953, where Paul became a partner in the newly organized Children's Clinic. Jean was active in the First Presbyterian Church as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher and President of Presbyterian Women. She was also active in the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, and served as President one term. She was active in medical matters, and was President of the Yellowstone Valley Medical Auxiliary and of the Montana Medical Association Auxiliary and served for a time on the American Medical Association Auxiliary. She was a member of Chapter Y of PEO and is a Past President. She was also a number one Nebraska Husker football booster. GO BIG RED! She was a loving mother of Candy of Lincoln, Neb., and Randy (Lee) of Billings. In addition to the above activities, Jean was involved in many other activities and was a great supporter of her husband's medical efforts, and was actively involved in The Child Study Center (a part of the Children's Clinic involved with working with children with learning and attention problems). She leaves a host of friends that she enjoyed working with over the years and was known for her ability to make everyone feel special with thoughtful gifts, acts and a smile. Jean leaves behind her husband, Paul Crellin of Billings; her brother, Gary (Carolyn) of Norfolk, Neb.; daughter Candy and grandson Vincent Hugelman of Lincoln, Neb.; and son Randy, his wife Lee and granddaughter Jenilee and grandson Charlie of Billings. Cremation has taken place, and her cremated remains will be interred at Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview, Neb., where a graveside service is planned. At Jean's request, the memorial service will be held in Billings at the Lillis Center, 2429 Mission Way on St. John's Lutheran Ministries Campus, on March 21, 2009.
