Jean Maxine Hoffart, daughter of Viola and Ralph Lund, was born Sept. 11, 1927, at Creighton. Jean was baptized at her grandparents Gelsters? home in West Point. She had two older brothers, Ray and Robert. When Jean was 3 years old, her family moved to Plainview for a short time, then back to Creighton. When she was in the fourth grade, her family moved to Bazile Mills. Jean attended school there and in Creighton. She worked at the Creighton Pharmacy and the creamery as a bookkeeper. On March 12, 1948, she married Robert L. Hoffart. The couple farmed the Hladik farm for several years and then moved to the Hoffart family farm in Plainview. Jean enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting and her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Cubs and the Huskers on television. Jean will be remembered by her family as a gentle, loving and hard-working lady. Before moving to the Plainview Manor approximately three and one-half years ago, she had a pug dog named Bruno, whom she spoke about daily. Jean was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the VFW and Legion Auxiliary, and while at the manor she served as the president of the residence council. Survivors include daughters Kathy Herian and husband Joe of Norfolk, Glenda McGrew and her husband, Dave of Norfolk; son Rick Hoffart and wife Myra of Omaha; her grandchildren, Tiffani Herian Fox, Brandi Kander and Ryan, Mitch Herian and Minja, Tara Fritz and David, Jim Hoffart and Wanda, Ray Hoffart, Tom Hoffart and Andrea; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jerry Griffith from Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Contributor: Ictksusa - [email protected]
