Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Revered Jan Christensen and Pastor Neil Peck will officiate. Some of her ashes will be buried in England and some in the Plymouth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Hospice of Siouxland or Life Skills Training Center. Jean Pamela Rayner was born September 2, 1934 in Ipswich, England, the daughter of Russell and Mary (Baxter) Rayner. Jean attended St Helens School and Christ Church girls’ school and graduated at the age of 16. She then went to work as Miss Holmes Business School, Ransone and Ropier and later at Ford Motor Company. She met and married Dean Rowe from Le Mars in October of 1953 while Dean was stationed at Bentwaters, England, serving 4 years in the United States Air Force. Upon Dean’s discharge from the Air Force, they then returned to the Rowe Family farm west of Le Mars in 1955. Jean worked at the Le Mars Hatchery and Le Mars Public Library. Jean also worked in the travel industry for 30 years that included leading many trips to England with traveler’s from northwest Iowa. They resided on the Rowe farm west of Le Mars until Dean passed away in early September of 2014. Jean was a longtime active member of the Plymouth Presbyterian Church. Jean enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports activities. Jean was very proud of her graduation from Westmar College in 1983, the same year as her son Steve graduated from Le Mars Community High School. Survivors include her two children, Sharon Rowe of Omaha, NE and Steve (Colleen) Rowe of Le Mars; two grandsons: Keaton and Hunter Rowe; two brothers: Gordan and Paul Rayner of England; a sister: Margaret (Dennis) Wolf of Le Mars; a sister in law: Shirley Timmins of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews both in the United States and England. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Mary (Baxter) Rayner; her husband, Dean Rowe; two brothers: Herbert Rayner and Kenneth Rayner; a brother in law: William Timmins; and a son in law: Todd Hendrickson.
