Fouts will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Belz Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Jean was born Nov. 10, 1949, to her parents, Harley and Mary Ann (Hrouda) Tejkl in Norfolk. She grew up on a farm south of Stanton and graduated from Stanton High School in 1967. As a youth, Jean was very active in 4-H showing cattle and riding horses. Her love of horses never faded. Jean earned her associate’s degree from Norfolk Junior College in medical recordkeeping. In 1968, Jean had a fantastic opportunity to ride the press bus for the Robert Kennedy campaign while he toured Norfolk. On Feb. 8, 1969, Jean married Van Volk in Stanton. She and Van raised four children on the family farm near Battle Creek, and later outside Norfolk. Jean was an avid reader and loved growing flowers. Throughout the years, she lovingly created numerous quilts for both her children and grandchildren. As an artist, she enjoyed painting and drawing and was a member of a water color group through the Norfolk Arts Center. She had a strong faith and great love for her children, grandchildren and family. Jean is survived by her father, Harley Tejkl of Stanton; children Todd (Kelly) Volk of Battle Creek, Michelle (Rick) Brown of Mesa, Ariz., Travis (Stacey) Volk of Frisco, Texas, Cody (Amy) Volk of Battle Creek; grandchildren Chloe, Avery, Tyten, Dylan, Braxton, Carli, Dawson, Ryann, Harrison and Mackoy; brothers H.J. (Sendy) Tejkl and Ron (Loretta) Tejkl; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann.
