Mrs. Jennetta Lockard, (nee Thorpe) was born in Whiteside county, Ill., Feb. 6, 1849, and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1865, and was married to T. J. Lockard June 12, 1869, and was the mother of six children, four daughters and two sons, four of whom, three daughters and one son, with her husband survive her. The funeral... Read More	OBITUARY: The Star Union, IA [Firday 11-24-1893] p. 1 DEATH'S ANGEL CALLS "DIED -- At her home in Union, Ia., on Saturday, Nov. 18, 1893, at 4:15 o'clock p.m., of diabetes, Mrs. Jennetta Lockard, aged 44 years, 9 months and 2 days. Mrs. Jennetta Lockard, (nee Thorpe) was born in Whiteside county, Ill., Feb. 6, 1849, and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1865, and was married to T. J. Lockard June 12, 1869, and was the mother of six children, four daughters and two sons, four of whom, three daughters and one son, with her husband survive her. The funeral was held in the Congregational church on Monday at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Litts. The choir, which was composed of Misses Eva Dillon, Mrs. Humphreys, Nettie Wood, E. F. and H. A. Rogers, sang "Farewell" and other appropriate selections. The pall-bearers were H. Burghardt, J. W. Smith, E. A. Gregory, Wm. Sharp, W. J. Tiffany and A. D. Wood. Mrs. Lockard was an earnest christian woman and an active member of the Congregational church and the Ladies Aid Society of that church. Her demise is a severe loss to the family and her church and friends. She was not seriously ill long, but few knowing her condition, as she was only confined to her bed a few days. There is no one who can take a mother's place; no one can care or speak tender words so kindly and lovingly as a precious true mother. She is gone and her dwelling is with the angels in heaven. She is not alone there; two of her precious children, Jessie Frazier and Horace, are clasping the warm mother's embrace. Weep not, children, husband and sisters, there will be a glorious meeting on that bright and happy shore, where the wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest. Let all be impressed with the grand lesson that life is uncertain and death is sure. Her remains were interred in the beautiful Hauser cemetery, and her soul is with God who gave it."
