Mrs. DeRuyter, nee Jeanette Van Kley, was born October 30, 1911, at Taber, Alberta, Canada, and moved in 1922 at age 11 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Van Kley, to Sioux Center where she had since made her home. She was married August 20, 1935, to James DeRuyter of Sioux Center. Surviving her besides her husband, who is associated with De Ruyter Hardware, and parents (who live at 326 First Ave. S.E., Sioux Center) are four children, Joan (Mrs. Howard Schutt) of Sioux Center; Carollee, student at State college, Ames; James, 14, and Larry, 9, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Claude Vander Stoupe of Linden, Wash., Mrs. John F. Vander Ploeg of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Dick Vander Berg of Sioux Center; and one grandchild. Sioux Center News 1959-09-10.
