Jeanne was born July 22, 1925, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of the late Charles and Katherine E. (Hall) Smith. She attended the Sacred Heart Grade School, Atchison High School and graduated from St. Scholastica College. She and Edward M. Read More	Jeanne Loretta Kelly (July 22, 1925 - November 04, 2009) Jeanne Loretta Kelly, 84, of Atchison, KS, passed away on November 4, 2009. Jeanne was born July 22, 1925, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of the late Charles and Katherine E. (Hall) Smith. She attended the Sacred Heart Grade School, Atchison High School and graduated from St. Scholastica College. She and Edward M. Kelly were united in marriage on June 12, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in Atchison. Mr. Kelly preceded her in death on August 9, 1981. She was a member of the St. Benedict's Church, the St. Benedict's Church Altar Society, the Church Women's Club and the Parent-Teacher Club. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at the Church for over twenty years. She was a member of the Daughter's of Isabella, the American Association of University Women, and the International Relations Group. She was the secretary of the Clem Tuggle Insurance Agency and later served as secretary of the St. Benedict's Church from 1974 until her retirement in 1995. Following her retirement she worked as the bookkeeper for ACES for several years. She loved music, and was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps, Atchison High School Band and Orchestra, Mount St. Scholastica Orchestra and the St. Benedict's Church Choir. She was also a member of her Bridge Club for over sixty years. Jeanne L. Kelly is survived by four daughters, Laura Pennington, Sheila (Charlie) Gartenmayer, Janet Kelly, all of Atchison, and Carol (Dennis) Neimann, Rushville, MO, one son, Dennis (Mary Ellen) Kelly, Topeka, KS, one brother, William C. (Joyce) Smith, Kansas City, MO, one sister, Katherine Smith, Gladstone, MO, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. Services to be held on Friday, November 06, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Benedict's Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A prayer service will be recited Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m., with visitation with the family until 7:00 p.m. Memorials contributions are suggested to St. Benedict's Church, Benedictine College Raven Club, or the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
