Born in Cumberland, on Aug. 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Norval Lamar and Ruth Lucille (Bucy) Wentling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony S. Grabenstein, who died in 1994; brothers, G. Lamar Wentling and wife, Viola, and Donald L. Wentling and wife, Lucy; sisters, Betty J. Wilson and husband, Eugene, and Shirley J. Read More	CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND —--Jeanne Marie Grabenstein, 90, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at the Lions Center. Born in Cumberland, on Aug. 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Norval Lamar and Ruth Lucille (Bucy) Wentling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony S. Grabenstein, who died in 1994; brothers, G. Lamar Wentling and wife, Viola, and Donald L. Wentling and wife, Lucy; sisters, Betty J. Wilson and husband, Eugene, and Shirley J. Wentling; half-sister, Hilda G. Roby and husband, Homer; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Jeanne attended Allegany High School. She was employed at Ford's Drug Store, A&P Market, and the Post Card Shop in Downtown Cumberland. She married her husband on Jan. 9, 1952, and became a full time wife, mother, and homemaker. Jeanne was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Shrine, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. She was an amazing seamstress, who made beautiful quilts that had been given to her grandchildren. Jeanne also enjoyed tending to her flower garden. She was always there for her family. Jeanne was a loving attentive mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Michael A. Grabenstein, Patricia L. Grabenstein, Teresa M. Owens and husband, Chris, and Charles E. Grabenstein and wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Jacob A. Owens, Seth C. Owens, Rachael L. Hogan and husband, Austin, and Joseph E. Grabenstein; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Grabenstein, Rosalie Robey, and Jean Niland; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saints Peter and Paul Shrine, 125 Fayette St., Cumberland, on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap with her husband. The family would like to thank the staff at the Lions Center for the kind, compassionate care given to their mother and grandmother.
