Description	:	Jeannette M. Hogstad, age 97, of Watertown, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. Pastor Kent Stillson will officiate with Robbyn Givens as soloist accompanied by A.J. Sherill. Visitation will be at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Hogstad, age 97, of Watertown, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Golden Living Center. Jeannette Marjorie Hogstad was born on February 25, 1918 to Ray and Nellie (Karstad) Parks at Butler, South Dakota. She was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, east of Butler and confirmed at Butler Evangelical Church. Jeannette attended Country School # 116 in Day County east of Butler through 8th grade. She attended Butler High School graduating in 1936. She then attended Northern State in Aberdeen, South Dakota, earning a 2 year Early Elementary Education degree. She taught 17 years in rural schools in Day and Grant counties, also in Ortley and Waubay, South Dakota. Jeannette married Oscar Hogstad, of Wallace, on December 23, 1939 in her parents home at Butler. To this union two daughters were born, Maxine and Reva. The couple lived north of Wallace for five years and then bought a small cattle ranch south of Ortley where they lived for 35 years. The couple retired to Watertown. Oscar passed away October 2, 2003, after 63 years of marriage. She was an active member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer where she belonged to Martha Circle, taught Sunday School and was a Bible School Teacher. She was a member of the Prayer Shawls Crocheting Group, charter member of Busy Bee Extension Club, and Gideons International. Jeannette loved entertaining her family and friends, she enjoyed bus tours, gardening, her flowers, sewing and crocheting. Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Maxine Hogstad of Watertown; her sister-in-law, Vera Parks of Webster; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Reva Bracht; her siblings, Vernon, Orion, Kermit and Barbarie; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a few nieces and nephews. - Wight & Comes Funeral Home
