Mary Ann STUART; "Departed this life, at his residence near White Hall, in this District, on the 2d 1nst., JOHN L. GRIFFIN, aged twenty-six years and ten months. 1860. Mysterious and afflictive are many of the dispensations of all-wise and righteous God. -The subject of this notice was only to be known to be loved for his many agreeable and amiable traits, both of head and heart. He was sociable, benevolent, and liberal, a good neighbor and citizen, and a firm and reliable friend. He professed his faith in the Savior, and his general character for truthfulness gives assurance of its being made in honesty of heart and sincerity of purpose. But, in the midst of his days he was suddenly cut down and his sun set in a cloud. Complaining of being unwell he took laudanum, and it is supposed that the effects of the laudanum in connection with a disease of the heart, to which he was subject, caused his sudden death. He was aware that his end was at hand and breathed his last saying, "Lord Jesus receive my spirit." He leaves a young and affectionate wife and two children of tender age, an aged mother and brothers and sisters with numerous friends andrelatives to mourn his untimely and sad death. He has fallen in the hands of righteous but merciful God, who will do right. "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, and blessed be the name of the Lord." W.P.H. (Banner, February 16) " Eliza B.
