Description	:	Jennie Eldora Murphy, daughter of Hiram and Elizabeth Campbell was born March 27, 1871 in Jasper County, Iowa and passed away at the Memorial hospital in Harlan Friday April 22, 1955 at the age of 84 years, 26 days. At the age of 9 days, she came with her parents in a covered wagon to Monroe township Shelby County, where she spent the remainder of her life with the exception of five years spent in Audubon County. Read More	Jennie Eldora Murphy, daughter of Hiram and Elizabeth Campbell was born March 27, 1871 in Jasper County, Iowa and passed away at the Memorial hospital in Harlan Friday April 22, 1955 at the age of 84 years, 26 days. At the age of 9 days, she came with her parents in a covered wagon to Monroe township Shelby County, where she spent the remainder of her life with the exception of five years spent in Audubon County. In March 1890 she was united in marriage to Thomas Grant Murphy of Walnut vicinity and they spent their early years on the farm, later moving to Harlan where her husband was a rural mail carrier for many years. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive. They are Mrs Lloyd Adams of Harlan and Frank Murphy of Elliott. Mrs Murphy was one of eight children, four of whom preceded her in death. They are Mott, Edward, Nancy and Lou Sella. Surviving are three brothers, Hiram of Walnut, Roy of Hancock and Ray of Kirkman. Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mrs Murphy joined the church at an early age and for many years, until her health failed she was active in the Woman's Society of Christian Service. Her membership had been in the Harlan Methodist church for the past 50 years. Funeral services were held at the Pauley funeral home Monday, April 25 with the Rev. Lawerence Beals in charge.
