JENNIE COKELEY I BURIED SUNDAY MANY AT SERVICES The funeral of Mrs. Jennie Cokeley was held at the Methodist church in Burlington Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the services being in charge of the pastor Rev. E.E. Beauchamp. There was a large attendance considering the extremely hot afternoon, many friends coming from the county to join with her Burlington friends in their tribute. Rev. Mr. Beauchamp's sermon was short and appropriate and in his remarks he paid a deserved tribute to her character. The music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. W.R. Cauthron, Miss. Ethel Evans, Supt T.E. Osborn and John Redmond, with Mrs. T.T. Kelly as accompanist. The songs were "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" "God Will Take Care of You" and "Nearer My God to Thee" There were many floral offering. Burial was in Graceland cemetery and a large number of friends went to the cemetery for a final services. The pall bearer were Charles Knoblock, J.M. Sharr, Frank Holmes. George Samuels. Tom Jeffery, and Roy Clark. Jennie Porter was born near Gridley, Kansas, October 30, 1880, and died at her home in Burlington , Kansas , June 26, 1931, at the age of 50 years, seven months and 26 days. She was married to Claude Gillett of near Gridley, November 21, 1901, and to this union were born three sons; Lester S. Gillett, of Gardner, Kan., and Ralph W. Gillett and Chester M. Gillett of Burlington, all of whom survive. Mr. Gillett died August 20, 1920. She married October 20, 1928 at Burlington, Kansas to Samuel Cokeley, who died March 30, 1930. Mrs. Cokeley is survived by Lester, Gillett and wife Ralph Gillett and wife and Chester Gillett. There are also five surviving grand children, ad many friends. Mrs. Cokeley had been a member of the Burlington Methodist church since 1922
